Meet Larissa + Paulo, this couple is getting ready to tie the knot soon. We went to downtown Miami to capture a glimpse of their love for one another. We had such a fun time together, they were up for anything, even the rain!
As we arrived at the intersession of Miami Avenue and Flagler St – Downtown Miami (the point zero of the streets of Miami), we decided to walk a little bit to get know the area.
We took the Miami Metrorail heading towards the Miami Airlines Arena, which is the house of the Miami Heat Basketball team with it’s great basketball players such as Lebron James, Dwane Wade, Bosh…
After that we took the Metrorail again and went to the Knight Center (which is known by the Brazilians as The Bride’s Cake).
Here we took some gorgeous shots.
On Knight Center we got permission to go in the “Sky Lobby” where we enjoyed romantic places that they have there.
This is a beautiful place and they did great!
We tried to explore different angles.
Done??? Not yet!
We came back to our “camping” to change clothes.
Like a movie, isn’t it?
Two things that they love: Play Poker and Starbucks!!!
They’re expecting for the big moment: The Rain!!!
We can call this session for The Engagement Rain!
This is really wonderful!!! Rain and Kiss…
Back to Metrorail again. I’ve been planning to shot in this Metrorail for years.
Now time to go!
I loved photograph this session, was different, flew like a river.
Special thanks:
First to God, that inspire me to do this couple of pictures.

You’ve been planning your wedding in your mind since you were a little girl. You finally met the man of your dreams and he proposed. Now you have to actually plan your wedding; setting budgets, finding a venue, making decisions on who to invite, what kind of flowers to have, finding the perfect dress, trying out different caterers, dealing with your future in-laws, the list goes on and on…
And then there’s the wedding photography; the one thing you have left to help you remember your emotions, events and details after the food has been devoured, the band has played, the flowers have withered and the guests have gone home. You soon come to find out that wedding photography prices vary widely. Some wedding photographers charge just a few hundred dollars to show up and shoot, some charge a few thousand dollars and some charge a small fortune. How to choose?!
Truth is, it’s hard to compare wedding photography prices because the numbers don’t always tell the whole story, so it’s important to compare apples to apples.
Here’s a real life scenario:
Let’s say you find 2 photographers who both have a package that cost $4,000.
For $4,000, Photographer A will shoot for 8 hours on the day of your wedding, include an engagement photo session, a framed print, a second shooter and a 20 page 11×14 album.
For the same $4,000 Photographer B will show up and shoot for 6 hours.
Which is the better deal? Well that all depends on the quality of the work and the experience the photographer delivers. What if Photographer A is brand new to the business and has only shot a handful of weddings? What if the album is made by some cheap manufacturer and has a funny smell to the faux leather? What if they take forever to return calls and emails and give you poor customer service? What if their work is average at best? How do you feel about spending that $4,000?
Now let’s say Photographer B does an amazing job for his $4,000. He or she has tons of experience, the images are incredible, you had a blast being photographed and the customer service is top notch. Sure, you’re might have to spend a few thousand more dollars to get a nice album, but at least you will be in love with your images and you’ll enjoy them for years to come. I suggest you are getting better value for your money in this scenario.
I understand that there’s a lot of money being spent in the month leading up to the wedding and there is a lot to consider regarding wedding photography prices, in addition to all of the other vendors you are hiring for your wedding. I often advise my potential clients who are on a tighter budget to invest in the best wedding photography they can afford; get the best possible pictures first and foremost. You can always come back and order prints, albums & other products well after the wedding. (Traditionally paper is given as the first anniversary gift…may I suggest photo paper bound in a leather album?)
Disclaimer: I am certainly not suggesting that just because one wedding photographer has higher prices that they are automatically better. It’s still up to you to evaluate the skills and value provided by the photographers you are considering hiring.
Here is a simple checklist for you to use when trying to determine whether wedding photography prices are a good value or not are:
Think about:
Also make sure to:
Lastly, I suggest hiring a photographer who is passionate about their job. One who is dedicated to taking the best possible pictures on your day and delivering a remarkable experience to their clients. One who takes pride in the work they do and it makes in obvious for you to see. Invest in a professional who will take care of your memories.

A beautiful wedding of Jackie Valldejuli and John Kearns. Our first meeting was telling me that could be a great event on Miami.
One hour before to begin the ceremony Jackie was there READY. We took some singular shoots with Dad, Mom, little girls…
The ceremony at Plymouth Congregational Church was quickly and beautiful.

Left church went to Courtyard Coconut Groove by Marriot where the ballroom had a spectacular view.
Delicious Cocktail with Crab legs, Oysters, Cheese… to start the reception. Inside the ballroom, dance, laughing, vaults, great orchestra…

Congratulations Mr & Ms Kearns, God bless this marriage.
Great job Marina and Diego, I loved photograph you, was an amazing time that we have together. Thanks for everything.
Her wonderful Gown with Miami Beach on background, great view!
Again, Nadia Lemos did a Spectacular work with simple and strong make up.
It all began with a trip to Miami’s Design District in which we happened upon this lush garden lounge where we were able to hang out and snap some fun pictures. From there we progressed through the district looking for some different and colorful walls or murals or anything interesting and we saw a great backdrop with different colors and shapes. After that we walked a bit more and came to an art gallery in which we were able to snap some photographs with various styles of paintings. At this point we traveled a bit farther and found some really interesting walls full of graffiti and color where we stopped for a moment and decided for an urban approach. We headed to the metro and were able to get some cool perspective shots there. We then wrapped the day with some vibrant shots in a local arcade (Dave & Buster at Dolphin Mall) to get more colors lights and details into our shoot. All in all it was an outstanding experience and tremendously fun endeavor.
Just 4 months for the Big day. We see soon at Newport Beach Resort – Sunny Isles / FL

- Wear: No khakis
No light colored khaki pants in photos, they rarely look good. Dark jeans or dark dress pants work best for men. Dark jeans or a Dress work best for women. Solid colors are best. Your choice of clothing outfits for the session is extremely important yet not a difficult or complicated choice. You should be comfortable and able to move around easily as most creative shooters will keep you moving a lot. Try to think styling and casual. It’s hard to beat a favorite pair of jeans or a flowing dress, some couples may want to bring a change of clothes to give them some options and variety in the shots on location. For both ladies and fellas you should avoid WHITE and bold colors and patterns. White washes you out unless you have quite dark skin and strong patterns really distract from your face which is where the attention should be in these photos. Guys should avoid shorts as our bare legs look odd in a lot of photos- these are casual but not that casual. Girls can definitely go for some cute shoes and modest accessories while guys should lose accessories like watches and pockets bulging with keys- hand them to your photographer before you begin!
- Get Trashed
Trash the engagement session – it’s just like trash the dress . Jump in the ocean, pond, what ever. Just have fun with the engagement session.
- Outfit
Bring several outfits along.
- Makeup
To Makeup or Not To Makeup?
This is an easy one- there is no question here- makeup is an essential part of your engagement shoot. Even with incredible skin you will benefit greatly from some well chosen makeup. If you get any shots taken with flash your skin will end up glowing in a shiny way that is not flattering and not so easy to fix. On film or in pixels you and any other person looks a little dull without makeup. It’s really makes a huge difference.
- Hydrate
The days leading up to your engagement session make sure to drink extra water to hydrate your skin for the photos.
- Be Yourself… RELAX!
It is extremely important that you relax in front of the camera. In fact, this is the key to a successful photo shoot. Don’t get overwhelmed with the details of the photo session and how you think you look. You should instead focus on your partner and your love for him or her. Try to relax and enjoy being together. If your photographer has posing suggestions, enjoy yourselves and have fun while posing.
Just be yourself. Your engagement photos will look beautiful.
